A pop without going over the topāthatās the essence of a good fall transitional lip. Iāve written enough beauty copy over 15+ years to know the content will be heavy on the smooth, āreturn to glamourā hair and the evergreen fall favorite, the bold lip this September. And itāll be heavy on those things for a reason! Theyāre classics, theyāre beautiful, they never go out of style. They were ātrendsā I looked forward to reading and re-reading about in my September issues in the ā90s and early 2000s. Today, though? I know enough to know an opaque, bold lip is never going to be my thing, just like any jewelry that isnāt microscopic isnāt, nor is massively high heels.

Violette FR Bisou Balm Yes, balm is in the title, but this is a special take on a balm. In fact, itās barely like a balm, in my humble opinion, to quote Angela Chaseās mom on My So-Called Life. It leaves a sheer tint that looks like your lips but betterāa sort of movie lips effect. The finish is cleanānot glossy or creamy in the least. Itās a feat. Amour Fou is my shade, but I also love to pair a more dramatic eye with Calisson. I also havenāt ordered Sucette yet, but itās on my wish list. Iām beyond impressed by this brand, which produces incredibly innovative products.
