Hi! Sorry for the TIBAAC after dark late newsletter tonight (shout-out to

Emily Sundberg
).

I just got back from a mini vacay in the Berkshires where it was beautiful and verdant but hot. It was nice to be away, but I’m happy to be reunited with my full-size products, Reid’s playpen and my favorite breakfast sandwiches.

In today’s newsletter:

  • Why 213Deli is my new favorite way to buy beauty

  • The tiny travel hero that turns ancient, wall-mounted hotel blow dryers into salon-worthy styling tools

Things I Buy As A Civilian is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

You sign up for free weekly text messages and every week you get a fantastic edit of products sent to you via text. Every drop comes with a free gift and shipping’s always free.

This innovative air boutique approach gives you direct access to fantastic beauty products without the noise of social media browsing. You text to purchase carefully selected items already been vetted by experts who understand what works. It cuts through the clutter. This week’s drop (Hanalei Kukui Body Lotion and Island Aloe Gel) is available at 12p PT on Thursday, July 16th (tomorrow). These are the perfect July duo for post-pool moments to slather on sun-soaked summer skin (you used SPF prior, of course).

Next week’s drop? It’s my favorite farm-to-underam deo moment: evlovetogether's full size Havana deodorant and gift-with-purchase travel Tulum deodorant.

Unsponsored, just a fan!

🔫 My super secret hotel hair dryer trick

Hotel dryers suck. We know this. But we also know we don’t want to waste carry-on real estate with a bulky dryer.

I aspire to air-dried hair, but I’m not yet at a point where I can do that every day of vacay. My texture is too varied and I can’t handle that kind of strand unpredictability so I bring something that keeps my hair looking super smooth and healthy, even when I’m using a dryer with technology from sans ions, from eons ago. Unless you’ve reported backstage at fashion week (how I discovered this little gem), you probably haven’t heard about it. I’m dishing on it below for paid subscribers this week.
