I take sunscreen very seriously.
In high school, at a health fair, I put my face into one of those horrifying machines that show you what your future sun damage will look like and that was it for me, friends. This was in the late ‘90s. I was still—gag—going to a tanning salon. Chills. I know. But I saw the ghost of Christmas future skin and I was forever changed.
I wish I could tell you I started wearing sunscreen every single day from that day forward. I didn’t. But I did start just a few years later, when I was 23 and got my act together. So it’s been decades of wearing SPF, even if I’ll only be near a window. If you can see your hand in front of your face, there are UV rays.
