If you write (or read) about beauty for approximately four minutes, you’ll pick up that retinol and vitamin C are among the most important ingredients to keep your skin looking its best. And it’s true!
Alas, I am one of the people who can barely tolerate the former. Prescription Retin-A sends my skin screaming—it’s red and irritated for days to the point where any benefit I’m getting isn’t worth looking horrendous half the week. I’ve sandwiched it between layers of moisturizer to no avail. It just doesn’t work for me.
And the over-the-counter stuff, i.e., retinol, also tends to irritate my skin. At best, it does nothing. At worst, it turns me slightly less red than the Rx iterations.
