HI. I had a baby on the 12th (that still sounds weird to say) and he (his name is Reid) is a stunning, delightful angel. His preference for nocturnal living and feeding for three hours straight in the middle of the night, however, has left me feeling very Weekend at Bernie’s, to quote my friend Mandy.

I have wondered more than once this week if he has a tapeworm. His diet is like Slim Fast — he consumes the feeding equivalent of a delicious shake for breakfast, another for lunch (i.e., relatively short feedings) and then a patently insensible dinner — the feeding equivalent of a Vegas all-night buffet.

All of that is to say, my routines are survival-mode edits at the moment, which is to be expected for the next few months.

I’m lucky I’m a speedy shower taker but even with my everything showers taking five to seven-ish minutes, I’m all about the three- to five-minute shower right now.

Here’s my new routine: the some things shower.

💦 Travertine Steam Shower Spray This gem is a rec from

. I spray it at the shower stream right when I get in and it makes me feel like I’m at a spa and also in a different tax bracket. Divine. It makes an abbreviated shower that much more relaxing.

🧴 Virtue Recovery Shampoo & Conditioner When I’m air drying, this is the best combo for my hair. It takes my heat-damaged, color-treated strands and gives them an infusion of moisture and hydration. If I use these clips after parting and twist my hair into a few spirals, it’ll dry looking decent enough for mat-leave life for a few days.

🧼 Dove Body Wash It’s a Dove Body Wash kind of thing right now. I love my oil washes but when I just need efficiency, I turn to this formula. I follow it up with a little Naturium Glow Getter Oil Body Wash when I need more moisture because body lotion? What a joker you are. There’s no time for that.

🪒 Athena Club Razor This is the best one out there and when I’m really pressed for time, I’ll shave one leg each shower. I use the oil wash with it for shaving.

🧼 Erno Laszlo Phelityl Cleansing Bar I keep this in the shower for nighttime face washes at the same time. This is good for dry skin, removes makeup, feels comforting as you use it.
